Julia: I began gigging on bass at 13, first with a (very) big band, then touring in a van and a tent with a folk quartet. Thence via street theatre (The Demolition Decorators) to jazz (Guest Stars, Toot Sweet and more) and Latin and Caribbean dance music (The Holloway Allstars). Further frolics ensued with Donna and Kebab (Greek Cypriot musical comedy) and the Hot Club of Hackney Gypsy Orchestra ( Jo Townsend/ Rick Bolton), then onto album and extensive tour with Brian Kennedy. I enjoy playing any acoustic-based music, especially for dance.I also love playing with friends and poets and free group improvisation. Heritage: Funnily enough I had a Jewish granny from the East End, on my dad’s side. Mongrels rock.
